Since moving to New Zealand from the UK in 2018, I have been blown away by the natural beauty of this country and its people. After settling in Kumeu and then Hobsonville, I discovered that I was in the heart of wedding venue central. Just a short distance from my home, I have access to some of the most stunning locations for wedding photography, including Markovina Vineyard Estate, Allely Estate, Settlers Country Manor and The Hunting Lodge. Markovina Vineyard Estate

Nestled in Kumeu, Markovina Estate has been a cherished family-run wedding venue for over five decades.

Spanning 10 acres, the estate boasts stunning gardens, vast landscapes, tree-lined paths, tranquil water features, and intimate walkways.

Offering nine distinct locations for ceremonies, including an all-weather indoor space, Markovina Estate caters to weddings in any season, from the warmth of summer to the cool of winter.

The specially designed reception hall accommodates 50 to 300 guests and features wall-to-wall windows that bathe the room in natural light, while a stone fireplace provides warmth and ambiance during cooler months.

The culinary team at Markovina Estate is dedicated to creating unforgettable dining experiences, offering a variety of catering options that include everything from drinks and appetisers to full-course meals and desserts. Visitors are immediately enchanted by Markovina Estate, a venue that consistently surpasses expectations with its beauty and service.

Located just a 20-minute drive from central Auckland in the scenic Kumeu region, Allely Estate is a hidden gem renowned for its exquisite weddings and prestigious events. This venue combines the elegance of a heritage villa, the grandeur of a spacious outdoor marquee, and the tranquility of meticulously tended gardens, making it a versatile location for any occasion.

Allely Estate boasts a variety of stunning settings, from its expansive gardens and intimate courtyards to the historical charm of its early 20th-century villa and the impressive marquee, complete with soaring six-meter ceilings and elegant chandeliers. This allows the estate to gracefully accommodate gatherings of any size, from cozy groups of 70 to grand celebrations of up to 400 guests.

Bridgewater Country Estate

Bridgewater Country Estate stands out as a top wedding destination in Auckland, set within 16 lush acres filled with well-kept lawns, towering shade trees, native greenery, and artistically designed gardens. The estate features charming walkways, a serene lily pond, a tennis court, a swimming pool, exclusive bridal accommodations, and cozy chalet lodging, making it an idyllic setting for weddings, private gatherings, or corporate events.

Owners Justin & Tracey have poured their hearts into Bridgewater. Inspired by their own nuptials, they've long harbored a vision of creating a venue that specializes in weddings and various celebrations. This vision came to fruition in 2017 when they took ownership of the enchanting Bridgewater Country Estate.

Riverhead Forest 🌲

Another one of my favorite spots in West Auckland is Riverhead Forest. This 5-hectare oasis of kauri trees is located on the border of the west Auckland vineyards, making it a great location for couples who want to escape the hustle and bustle for some truly unique and beautiful photos. Riverhead Forest offers a serene and peaceful setting for your engagement shoot or wedding photos, and is the perfect place to indulge in a little 'shinrin-yoku' (forest bathing) and reconnect with nature. Whether you are looking for intimate, candid shots or sweeping landscapes, Riverhead Forest has something for everyone.
